Eighty professionals compete in ATP Challenger tourney

For the second time, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Visit for the Panama Cup will be held in the country’s capital city. The ATP Challenger Tour is a series of international men’s professional tennis tournaments.

From Saturday, April 13 to Sunday, April 21 more than 80 international tennis professionals will compete at the Fred Maduro athletic complex at Los Llanos de Curundú from Monday to Friday starting at 11:00 a.m. There will be evening tournaments at 7:00 p.m. The final on Sunday, April 21 will be screened live on television, time to be announced. The tennis professionals are competing for $50,000 prize money and 80 points that are to be awarded to the top player’s ATP ranking. Amongst the tennis players are the Chilean Nicolás Massú, a double Olympic medalist and the Italians Marco Trunguelliti and Fladio Cipolla, both with ATP world rankings.
