Golfers are well catered to in Panama. Summit Golf Club and the Tucan Country Club, close to Panama City, welcome guests. Seaside courses, Coronado and Vista Mar, both an hour’s drive from the city, are also available, as are the courses in Chitre on the Azuero Peninsula and Valle Escondido and Lucero in Chiriqui.
Tucan Country Club is just across the Canal from Panama City, over the Bridge of the Americas. This is an 18-hoñle 72 par course right beside the Panama Canal.
Summit Golf Club is located on the road to Gamboa, about 25 minutes from town. It is an 18-hole, 72 par course with stunning views of the Panama Canal and the Camino de Cruces National Park.
Coronado Golf and Beach Resort on the Pacific coast 83 kms from Panama City has an 18-hole, 72 par course. The sixteenth hole is the most spectacular – a par 3 over water with a green surrounded by sand.
Vista Mar is also in the Pacific beach area. Designed by the famous architect, J. Michael Poellot, it has spectacular ocean and mountain views.
Costa Blanca is home to the Mantaraya Golf Club at the Royal Decameron Hotel. Designed by Randall Thompson it incorporates many challenging water hazards.
Chitre Golf Club is a 9-hole, 36 par course, and Valle Escondido, in Boquete, is a 9-hole course with holes of 3 and 4 par, set in luxuriant surroundings.
Lucero is situated 15 minutes from Boquete. The 18-hole, 72 par course has spectacular views of both mountain and ocean.
