A new bed and breakfast with Canadian ownership will open shortly in the hills overlooking Chame. It is in La Joya de Chicá, a small village in the district of Chame. The elevated area offers spectacular views of the surrounding valleys, Altos del Maria and Sorá, and the Pacific Ocean. Hiking in the surrounding countryside one can take in as many as five waterfalls. The area is ideal for bird watching. Yoga classes, massages, a pool and hot tub offer relaxation back at the lodge.
Canadian, Philip Dankiw, owner of La Joya de Chicá (the jewel of Chicá), says that in the first stage, two bedrooms will be available, each with hot water, AC and a private bathroom. The queen bed room with garden view fits two people and another room with two full-size beds and mountain views sleeps a snug party of four. In the future, the lodging aspires to host as many as 26 persons at a time. Brunches prepared by a gourmet chef will take place on Sundays, every third Sunday of the month will be buffet, the others a la carte. La Joya de Chicá will also be available for holding seminars.
