The first musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be presented in Panama, thanks to the initiative of the Teatro Parroquial San Lucas, Teatro del Colegio San Agustín located in Avenida San Agustín,Costa del Este, Panama City. The musical is in Spanish, but the popular songs such as “Any Dream Will Do” and “Joseph’s Coat” are the same in any language.
The story is based on the “coat of manycolors” story of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. The show has little spoken dialogue. it is completely sung-through. Its family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music are popular around the world.
The cast includes Leo Almengor as Joseph and Alvaro Gómez as the pharaoh. The choreography is the work of Melina Samaniego and Ricardo Moreno. It is directed by Edwin Cedeño. Tickets cost $20 and can be bought at the Oficina Parroquial.
