Next weekend, Vista Mar Golf and Country Club is celebrating the opening of its “back nine” holes at its world-class, 18-hole golf course located above the Pacific Ocean about an hour from Panama City.

On Saturday, May 11, residents and members of the Vista Mar community will attend a premier soft opening of the golf course. The following day, Sunday, May 12, the new golf course will be open to the public to play on one of most luxurious links in Latin America.

The first nine holes at Vista Mar, an exclusive residential and resort community that enjoys commanding views of the Pacific Ocean, opened a few years ago. Now, begins the second phase and completion of the 18-hole golf course. Kemper Sports has been selected to manage Vista Mar Golf and Country Club. This is Kemper Sports’ first incursion in the Latin American market. The company sees Panama as the perfect starting point to expand its presence in the region.

Irrigation upgrade

The irrigation system at Vista Mar is being upgraded to the most efficient and sophisticated control system in the golf market today. The new system, called Lynx, is made by the Toro company. It offers many features geared towards water conservation and energy efficiency, like a state-of-the-art weather station which is located behind green 16. The end result is a system unmatched anywhere in Central America.

The event will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Green fees range from $45 to $110. Tee time reservations are taken at the Golf Shop by calling 345-4096 or writing
