The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) did not win the prestigious Prince of Asturias Award 2013 in the International Cooperation category, that honor went to the Max Planck Society for the Promotion of Science, a network of research laboratories located in Germany. The winner was announced on Wednesday, June 12.
The ACP administrator, engineer Jorge Luis Quijano, said that the nomination of the ACP for this prestigious prize was a recognition of Panamanians and their inter-oceanic passage as a symbol of world unity.
Quijano also thanked the more than 34,000 people and organizations that supported the ACP’s nomination through their signatures and online voting.
