This weekend is a long weekend, with Monday, November 4 and Tuesday, November 5 being days off to celebrate Flag Day and Independence from Colombia in Colón. The government has not yet announced whether it will grant or move two more holidays this month.

Independence Day from Spain, November 10, falls this year on a Sunday. Companies await to be notified whether Monday, November 11 will be granted off. Thursday, November 28 is Independence from Spain Day. The possibility of moving the day off to create a three-day weekend exists.

Parade Days

Two parades take place simultaneously on Sunday, November 3 and Monday, November 4. Marching bands from schools all over the country can be seen and heard along city streets and in Casco Antiguo. The first route begins on Calle Aquilino de la Guardia in the Banking District, makes a stop at a stage courtesy of the Ministry of Education at Plaza New York and finishes at Creditcorp Bank on Calle 50. In the old city, the parade starts at Simon Bolivar Park, passes in front of the Presidential palace, finishing at the Mirador del Pacifico park at the entrance to Casco Antiguo. Both parades start at 8:00 a.m.
