E-book is photo-study of the national costume
“The Art of the Pollera,” is the first English-language e-book published on the subject of Panama’s many pollera dresses. It enjoyed an early September launch by Many Hands Publications. The 126-page cultural art guide is the perfect introduction to what one would want to know about Panama’s national costume. In the book one not only learns about the history and the origin of the pollera but is also enthralled by the breathtaking photos, taken by a famed cultural heritage photographer living abroad. It offers a study of the different dress styles (in-studio and around at different folkloric street festivals), jewelry, artisans in their homes and of course, the accessories.
The publisher announces that upcoming books will include the different Indigenous groups of Panama, the Caribbean Congos and the ancient races of the Isthmus.
“The Art of the Pollera” is also available in Spanish and is hoped by many to be available in French for Holiday gifting. Books may be purchased at
