Contemplating a direct New Delhi to Panama flight in 2014
Panama’s aero connectivity could soon stretch an arm to the east. India’s state airline Air India has announced plans to begin a direct flight between New Delhi and Panama. The Panamanian hub will then be used to connect travelers to Latin American cities using agreements with airlines that have not yet been named.
According to Peru’s National Tourism Chamber (Canatur) president, Carlos Canales, plans will solidify in 2014. “The idea has been thought through and it will be a political decision by the government of India taken with Latin America. It will provide to stimulate bilateral economic relations and influence in tourism,” he said.
Many governments, according to Canales, are supporting the flight. Among them are Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Peru.
