Panama City is the only Latin American capital city with a rainforest within its municipal limits. Part of that rain forest is located on and around Ancon Hill, the iconic green hill between the city proper and the former Canal Zone. Every day, there is an opportunity to hike up to the top and see many vistas from on high.

Parking is available at the Mi Pueblito tourist complex, located on Avenida de los Martires. Stairs are provided until one reaches the old road to the top. At summit, there are benches, viewing areas and monuments, as well as the very large Panamanian flag flying high in the sky, to be observed.

Those who would rather drive up can find their way following signs from the Administration Building on the Balboa (port) side of Ancon Hill all the way up to the top. No vehicles are allowed to pass after 4:00 p.m.
