The second edition of Fondo Cine, the contest that seeks the film industries brightest prospects of the future was officially launched last Thursday, December 12. The competition sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce has $3 million to finance movie projects. The registrations will start on Tuesday, January 2.
The contest, organized by the National Cinema Directorate, will award funds to cinematographic projects in four areas: fiction or animated films, project development, documentary project and support to a film or documentary in the post-production stage.
Arianne Benedetti, Film National Director, said that the contestants will be able to present all the necessary documents for their film projects through internet for international juror assessments.
Jose Pacheco, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, said that the contest is only open to projects in which the directors or producers are Panamanian or in the case of co-production with foreigners, the ones that will be accepted are those where 51% of the work is directed by a Panamanian.
