The best property developments, banks and Panamanian real estate companies are getting together under one roof at Expo Inmobiliaria ACOBIR, taking place at the Atlapa Convention Center from Wednesday, January 29 until Sunday, February 2. The event is in its sixth version and is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors. After the fair’s opening ceremony on Wednesday, the public can attend from Thursday, January 30 to Friday, January 31 from to 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 1 to Sunday, February 2 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. The entrance costs $2.

ACOBIR stands for “Asociación Panameña de Corredores y Promotores de Bienes Raíces” (the Panamanian Association of Real Estate Brokers and Promoters). Jose Boyd, ACOBIR’s president, was busy promoting this event in various housing expositions around the world in 2013, including Brasil, Miami and Orlando in the U.S. and Taipei and Hong Kong in Asia. As a result, the fair will have, along with its more than 400 real estate investment options, the presence of an international pavilion with the participation of countries like Colombia, United States, Brazil and Venezuela.

Many kinds of properties will be featured including apartments, furnished houses, new projects, re-sales, repossessed properties, beach and mountain plots as well as land for development. This fair is a “commercial real estate showcase,” which will be divided according to property price, banking area and development proposals.

Luxury homes developments can be found at the fair.

The event seeks to stimulate investment in the real estate sector by presenting the most important projects, developments and properties in Panama and other countries. According to Boyd, 2013’s ACOBIR Expo saw transactions totaling more than $150 million dollars. The event’s organizers hope to surpass this figure this weekend.

Despite these extraordinary numbers, ACOBIR remains itself a non-profit organization. As an official sponsor of the “Teletón 20-30” charity, ACOBIR presented a contribution of $40,000 dollars during its televised fundraising event this past December.
