Strong internet presence for audiences around the world
The Panama Canal has launched its new app for mobile devices in its communication effort to enable a broader audience to experience what the waterway has to offer. Jorge L. Quijano, the Panama Canal Administrator said: “We have great content in our everyday operation of the waterway, and with the new mobile app we will able to deliver it to our audiences around the world and for people to know more about our country and its Canal.”
The Panama Canal mobile app is available for the following operating systems: iOS (Apple for both iPhone and iPad), Android and Windows Phone. The Blackberry app will be available in the next few days.
The application allows users to access the live webcams, tide charts (for the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans), weather radar, photographs and videos, as well as current facts and information on visiting the Canal, especially during this year in which the waterway celebrates its centennial. From within the app, available in English and Spanish, content can be shared in several social networks.
The new mobile app strengthens the current Panama Canal’s communication efforts digitally and online. Online communication at the Panama Canal is developed through the following channels:

The new official tourism website invites visitors to live the Panama Canal experience. In this website, visitors can find detailed information to plan their visit to the Canal.
