The 1st Peligro Jazz Festival is coming to the city of David, Chiriquí from Thursday, March 27 to Sunday, March 30. Taking its name from Barrio El Peligro, the oldest neighborhood in David, the festival will take place in local restaurants, Plaza Bolívar and Club David. Money raised from ticket sales will benefit music education programs at the El Varital and Cochea Arriba schools.
Visitors will delight in presentations from Panamanian bands such as Element Jazz Trio, Zuwira Jazz Trio, Sin Ensamble Jazz Quartet and Natural Sound, Jr.
International musicians will be present as well. The Swedish band, Nacka Forum, is the headline act. They will take the stage at Las Terrazas at Club David on Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. and will be led by one of Scandinavia’s greatest saxophonists, Jonas Kullhammar, winner of various European music awards.
As part of the festivities, a photography exhibit entitled “Música” will be on display at Mostro Bistro on March 27 where the Element Jazz Trio will be performing from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Visitors may also take part in a wine tasting at Restaurante Cuatro on March 29 while enjoying the Zuwira Jazz Trio from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. A free concert is scheduled for March 30 in Parque Bolívar from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The event is organized by the Casa Cultural La Guaricha with support from Culturama and the Movement for the Historic Patrimony of Chiriquí.
