That is the secret of the success of Vista Mar Golf & Beach Resort on Panama’s Pacific coast just over an hour’s drive from Panama City.

The course and the residential community sit serenely on a 300 hectare swathe of beach front land in the district of San Carlos, with townhouses, beach front homes and condominiums.

Vista Mar Golf & Beach Resort boasts the following: spa, resort, meditation garden, professional tennis courts, beach club house with swimming pool, two heliports and one of the best restaurants in Panama, Terrazas del Mar, presided over by chef Pascal Finet. The course and the facilities are open to the public.

The 18 hole, 72 par golf course, measures 7,273 yards and one of its claims to fame is that from every hole players can see the ocean while teeing off. The course climbs hills just above the beach with challenging landing areas and long fairways. The “star” hole of the golf course is the one located right on the beach which offers a shot, a resident pro says “will be your favorite for the rest of your life.”

The Vista Mar Golf course was designed by the renowned designer, J. Michael Poellot, who has been responsible for the design and supervision of over 300 projects throughout the western and southwestern United States and many countries of Asia, the Pacific Basin, Mexico and South America.

There is also a driving range that allows the player to practice his swings in directions opposite to the course giving the golfers views of the mountain or the beach. The pro-shop sells equipment from prestigious brands to cater for every golfer’s needs.

The Vista Mar Golf & Beach Resort opens from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday the cost per player is $80.25 including the green, golf cart and taxes, weekends $117.70, twilight from 1:00 p.m. $42.80 and children $37.45. For more information call 340-3888.
