As explained by René Gómez, owner of Scuba Panama, children can compete by snorkeling in five feet of water finding strings attached to pictures of prizes. Adults must follow underwater navigation devices (e.g. a compass) to find prizes.

According to Gómez: “The treasures will include top-end hotel stays, watches, cell phones from Samsung, Nokia and LG, scuba diving courses, underwater computers, an oxygen tank and underwater lights, among others.”

This activity will have three categories -Advanced Divers, Open Water Divers and Snorkelers. The start time for each category is as follows:

Divers with tanks: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Divers with snorkel: 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Transportation from Panama City to the event location can be arranged through Scuba Panama. The event location is at Scuba Portobelo in Portobelo, Colón, five kilometers before the town. I’ve been to the Scuba Panama dive campus on the Caribbean side of Panama, and I can recommend it for the ambience of the setting and the professionalism of the company.

The registration fee is $35 for adults. They will also have the option to rent scuba and snorkeling gear with a 50% discount. To register, call 261-3841 or 261-4064. For more details, visit Facebook.com/scubapanama.
