Fourth of July, the U.S. holiday which marks the country’s independence, arrives Friday of next week. Patriotism aside, the day’s festivities are an occasion for R&R and BBQ. American expats and their sympathizers have a few options in Panama to celebrate.
From 3 to 8 p.m., XS Memories in Coclé will host a party celebrating their 20th year anniversary with traditional picnic grub like BBQ chicken, coleslaw and potato salad. Local beer will be on sale for $1.25 each. There will be contests and prizes as well. You can enjoy “the best burger in Panama” and get your picture taken with the largest American flag in the country. Call 993-3096 or visit Facebook.com/xsmemories.dennissheila.
The Trump Ocean Club hosts an all-you-can-eat BBQ at Azul Bar & Grill, located on an open-air terrace with spectacular views of the Bay. The cost is $40 per person, drinks not included. The fun takes place from 4 to 11 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 215-8825 or writing BarcelonaRestaurant@TrumpHotels.com.
A fireworks show is promised for the party happening Saturday, July 5, courtesy of Young Expats in Panama (YEP!). The belated Independence Day bash will be held from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Balboa Yacht Club in Amador, famous for their burgers. Funds raised will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW Post 3835) and the Ladies Auxiliary. An “All-Day Pass” ($25 presale or $30 at the door) comes with a plate of BBQ, specials on food and drink, a four-hour open bar, a DJ party and more. For those with only the evening to spare, tickets to the “Open Bar Party” are available ($15 presale or $20 at the door) which grant entry from 6 p.m. onwards and includes an open bar from 6 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 12 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit YEPJuly4th.eventbrite.com.
The Visitor wishes everyone a safe and fun weekend.
