Classical guitar concert in Boquete

guitar_fmtOn Sunday, June 15 from 4 to 6 p.m., a classical guitar concert will take place at the Boquete Public Library with performances from John Marcel Williams from the Unites States and Oscar Somersalo from Finland.

These master players have come to the country to take part in the XI Panama Guitar Festival at the Teatro Nacional from June 9 to 13. As in years past, the Festival is extending the scope of its reach to include areas outside the capital.

John Marcel Williams was born in 1994 in Ohio and has played guitar since he was nine years old. He has obtained more than 20 prizes in various guitar competitions worldwide, notably obtaining first place in the Boston Guitar Festival, among other recognitions.

Somersalo was born in Helsinki, Finland, but is a resident of Baltimore, Maryland. He studied at the Peabody Institute at John Hopkins University.

Tickets to this singular event, which is organized by the Panamanian Guitar Association, cost $15 and are available at the Boquete Library, Hotel Oasis and Mailboxes Etc. in Boquete as well as at Culturama in the city of David. For more information, contact 720-2879 or 730-4010.
