The battle at the beach continues
The fourth qualifying round of the National Surfing Circuit (CNS) Cerveza Soberana Cup is coming to Santa Catalina, Veraguas province, Saturday, June 21 to Sunday, June 22. CNS, representing one of Panama’s preeminent surfing tournaments, is banking on the ideal wave conditions at what is considered the best surf break in the country.
This fourth round of qualifiers is the second-to-last competition in this season’s CNS Soberana championship. The categories judged are Open, Open Female, Junior, Master and Longboard. Also competing will be participants in Stand-Up Paddle and Bodyboard.
“The rocky bottom (of the beach) will add a dramatic element to the event as the contestants will be placing themselves at risk of injury at just a few feet of depth,” said a CNS spokesperson. “Only experienced surfers should participate.”
Defending their wins from the 3rd qualifying round at Playa Venao will be Diego Salgado, Roberto Díaz, Camila Kjaerby, Augusto López, Ricki Chiari and Edwin Pérez. Inscriptions cost $25 and must be made by writing firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday, June 20. Inscriptions will not be taken at the beach.
