Pag 32 Foto 2The Gaitan Brothers and the Anita Loynaz Dance Academy have teamed up to bring to Panama the country’s first ever Flamenco Festival from July 24 – 27 at the National Theater in Casco Antiguo, with shows starting at 8 p.m.

The festival serves to promote flamenco culture and will bring the top exponents in the field to new audiences. Performing will be Anita Loynaz and Carmen Garza from Venezuela; Carolina Zanforlin from Brazil; Triana Maciel from Mexico and Irene Gontan and Farruquito from Spain. Farruquito, of the legendary Los Farruco dynasty of performers, is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest flamenco dancers in the world.

The program will present traditional and innovative versions of the dance to show how flamenco has evolved while staying grounded in its roots. The festival is not limited to shows, and will also include educational activities such as conferences and classes for all levels of abilities and interests. For instance, a guitar, singing and percussion class will be presented as well as a flamenco fashion show, which will take place at Multiplaza Mall.

Different packages to the event can be purchased with costs varying depending on which activities one wishes to take part in. For all the details, visit
