Pag 27_fmtThe Rotary Club of Playa Coronado has partnered with the Wheelchair Foundation, a worldwide organization within Rotary International, which provides wheelchairs, hope, mobility and freedom to those in need. According to the organizers, at the beaches they have found a dire need in the area for wheelchairs.

Qualifying children, as well as adults, will soon be measured so that the proper chair can be provided. These chairs cost $200 – $700 each. The Rotary Club will need to raise approximately $16,000 – $17,000 (within 60 days) and they are asking for community support. If you would like to donate one or more chairs for $200 each, they will place your name on a plaque and permanently attach it to each wheelchair.

Businesses who donate $500 will receive a framed certificate with a picture of the chair being delivered to the chosen recipient. Anyone who contributes $1000 will receive both the plaque with their name attached to the chair as well as a certificate with the picture. If you feel you can and would like to donate a different amount, please feel free to contribute. Your donation can be large or small.

Sixty chairs which have already been purchased by two Rotary Clubs in Maine, USA, are scheduled to arrive in March and be delivered to recipients in Santiago.
