St. Mary’s Church in Balboa turns 100

St. Mary's Church 2_fmtOn Sunday, July 20 a special mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish in Balboa, Ancon to mark the 100 years of its founding. The “Mass of Thanksgiving” will take place at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a theatrical presentation at 6 p.m. in the upstairs Grand Hall.

The play, “Blessed Virgin Mary’s Apparitions to St. Catherine Labouré,” has been prepared by the renowned theater director, Mr. Bruce Quinn, and will be enacted by volunteers from the St. Mary’s Church community.

The occasion is also being dedicated to the Vincentian Fathers of the Philadelphia Province who have been active in Panama since 1914. They will be represented by the Provincial Superior of the Vincentian Community in Panamá. Among the list of distinguished invitees are members of the local clergy, the Daughters of Charity, the President of the Republic, the Mayor and representatives of the local community including civic leaders, business leaders, church members of the various parishes and other prominent personalities from Panama and the United States.
