The Ancon Theater Guild (ATG) is staging “The Importance of Being Earnest” in a three-week run starting Thursday, September 4 to Saturday, September 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

There is an added element not in the original Oscar Wilde script, a narrator, played by Adam Herzig, who just moved to Panama two months ago. His character is evocative of Shakespeare’s Puck. He explains: “My role was added as a means to make the show a little more current and to add a little bit of a magical element.” In between and during key scenes, Herzig graces the stage to deliver his jocular brand of explanatory commentary.

The play is the directorial debut of Guild mainstays, Danielle and Nick Miles, and features performances from Kari King, James Mattiace, Andres Clemente, Ramona Rhoades, Carina Weber, María Theoktisto and Malakai Riker.
