The “Azuleta”

Canadian-born Captain Steve runs the 90ft sailing yacht, Azuleta. Marketed under the well-established name of Captain Rick’s Boat Charters, the team has made a name for themselves with their day-trips to Taboga and night cruises through the Bay of Panama. They are near completion with a remodel of the ship and have plans to re-launch their services in December with an eye to a higher-end market.

The Azuleta can comfortably accommodate up to 30 people onboard for day trips. Private charter cruises can also be arranged, taking advantage of the four air-conditioned cabins with private facilities. “Trips to Contadora take three to four hours,” explains Captain Steve.

The newest trip on offer will be partial Canal transits. Groups will be 20 – 30 people will depart from the Balboa Yacht Club and proceed to the locks at Miraflores and Pedro Miguel. An air-conditioned bus will await them at Gamboa to bring them back to Balboa. The trip takes eight hours with lunch included.

“The Azuleta can also accommodate corporate events, weddings, pirate-themed cruises or just good old romantic sailing trip,” says Captain Steve.
