The Cubitá Resort was named in honor of the pre-Colombian inhabitants who lived near the River “La Villa.” This unique residential project combines private dwellings with a first class boutique hotel, museum and an ecological farm of 95 hectares.
Chitré, the capital of Herrera, is a busy city that has experienced remarkable progress in the last ten years. While today there are shopping malls, hotels and businesses everywhere, the city has managed to maintain its traditions and folklore, one of the reasons why developers of Cubitá chose this location, which also features a diverse amount of flora and fauna in the nearby national parks, wildlife refuges and beaches.
Their hotel features more than 90 luxury suites with design inspired by pre-Colombian elements and colonial architecture of the Azuero Peninsula. Visitors are transported in time as they pass the “glorieta central” through the interior garden toward the chapel. About 600,000 ancient clay tiles were used in the roof.
The hotel’s amenities include
A showcase of Panama’s Azuero culture, the Cubitá museum houses original archaeological pieces registered with the INAC (National Institute of Culture) and reproductions of ancient gold jewelry donated by REPROSA.
Built on Cubitá’s grounds, the chapel takes inspiration from the spiritual practices and beliefs of the area’s original inhabitants. The structure is located in front of the Central Gazebo and across the courtyard. Every Sunday, masses, baptisms, weddings and religious events are held there.
The Cubitá spa offers a wide array of treatments using natural products.
