Panama City’s Mayor’s office presents “The Star of Bethlehem”
This Sunday, December 14, Panama City’s Mayor’s Office presents “La Estrella de Belén” (the Star of Bethlehem), the annual Christmas Parade taking place in Juan Díaz starting at 3 p.m. The yearly tradition follows a route along Avenida José Agustín Arango beginning at the Rommel Fernández Stadium and ending at the Heliodoro Patiño park. Attractions include elaborate floats, marching bands, musical presentations on stage and more.
Thus far, the Mayor’s Office has confirmed 15 floats for the parade which will include representation from the city and other government agencies and will feature the theme of “peace and love.” Audiences will enjoy 15 different bands, all from local schools, interpreting Holiday favorites.
The parade route will pass by two stages set up for artistic and musical presentations where audiences can enjoy Christmas carols, local personalities and musicians and a fireworks display.
To ensure public safety, the route will be patrolled by the police department. Traffic, pedestrian and vehicular, will be managed by the firefighters and Transit Authority. The Red Cross and Health Department will also be on hand.
Bleachers and toilets will be provided along the route and authorized food vendors have been issued permits at predetermined locations.
