Panama will be host to the most important “Summit of the Americas” in the seven year history of the event, since this year, heads of state of the hemisphere have been invited.
The Summit, to be held April 10 and 11 at Atlapa Convention Center, will bring together delegations representing 35 countries.
Under the theme, “Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas”, regional leaders will reflect on the difficulties the peoples of the hemisphere face, and their opportunities and challenges.
Among the new features of this summit is an academic forum that will bring together the rectors of the most prominent universities.
About 5,000 visitors are expected for the summit – good news for the tourism sector, especially the hotels. Jaime Campuzano, President of the Panama Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR) told The Visitor that the delegation of the USA alone will fill its 340 rooms because four important forums will be held at the hotel.
