The closing concert of the first “Congreso Internacional de Canto” (International Singing Congress) will be held Monday, April 6 at the National Theater at 8 p.m. “A Night at the Opera” will feature 15 artistes, including singers from Mexico and Argentina along with Panamanian performers, Graciela Saavedra, Susan Samudio and Baysa, all presenting famous arias.
The Congress, which began on March 28 in Pedasi, Los Santos province, is a program designed specifically for opera singers to improve their vocal technique, interpretation and performance skills through workshops led by teachers from the United States and Europe. The event is an initiative of Irena Sylya, the Director General of the Ópera Panamá Foundation, whose aim is to transform Panama into a point of reference for opera on a global level.
Proceeds from the “A Night at the Opera” concert will benefit the foundation’s scholarship program. Tickets, on sale at Ticket Plus, cost between $5 and $60. For more information, visit OperaPanama.com
