In celebration of its fourth anniversary, the “Casa Cultural La Guaricha” (La Guaricha Cultural House) in David, Chiriquí, with support from Cuatro Restaurant, presents “Luz y Color” (“Light and Color”), a collective photography exhibition by Julio Atencio, Rafael De Gracia, Johan Leguisamo and Vanat. The show is open until Monday, May 18.

Johan Leguisamo’s subject is people in natural environments. He has participated in exhibitions in Rome, London and Panama.

Rafael De Gracia employs both analog and digital photography to create interesting compositions.

Julio Atencio, from Chiriquí, says taking nocturnal shots sparked his passion for photography.

Vanat was born in Bocas del Toro, Panama. She was inspired by her father, an artist who was devoted to photography and video. She studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she earned a degree in photography. Her work is spontaneous, capturing people who do not realize they are being photographed.

The exhibition is made possible by the dedication of Antonio Singh, who founded Casa Cultural La Guaricha four years ago. He strives to provide for the youth of Chiriquí a space in which to express themselves and to give the public an opportunity to admire the beauty of the province as depicted by the hands of local artists.

There are several restaurants in David that provide space for the promotion of art and culture. On this occasion, Cuatro Restaurant generously opened their doors to host this event. The chef and owner features a “gourmet Panamanian” menu that he invites everyone to try while viewing the stunning photographs on display until the middle of the month.
