World Bank figures show that Panama’s 2014 Gross Domestic Product grew 6.2% with respect to 2013.

On Thursday, July 9 at the Sheraton Panama Hotel & Convention Center, the United States – Panama Business Meeting will take place, under the banner “Business Forum Panama – USA: New Opportunities.” The U.S. – Panama Business Council (USPA), organizer of the event, will demonstrate how an improved understanding of current business opportunities can be of benefit and will discuss the trends and techniques of dealing with the Panamanian market, all in the spirit of strengthening business ties between both nations.

A host of conferences are scheduled, led by experts discussing issues of national interest and international scope. Some of the speakers are Ivan Zarak, Deputy Minister of Economy; Ivan Carlucci, President of USPA; Nestor Gonzalez, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade; Walter Luchsinger, former U.S. Ambassador in Panama; Jaime Campuzano, President of the Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR); Severo Sousa, former President of the Colón Free Zone Users’ Association; and Carlos Fernández, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

The conference includes participation of various business associations, leaders of industry and trade, major players in tourism, banking and real estate and government officials.

Organizers are expecting over 100 recognized personalities from the business world to participate in talks such as:

  • The challenges and opportunities facing the Panamanian export sector vis-a-vis current realities – Roberto Trocoso
  • Opportunities for the Panamanian hotel and real estate industry that address the current market – Walter Luchsinger
  • Colón: Renewal for growth – Gerardo G. Pelaez
