The National Ballet of Panama presents “Anniversary Gala 2015”, celebrating its 62nd anniversary. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 15 at the Balboa Theater. The performance starts at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $15 and $ 20.
Thirty-five dancers will delight the audience with his art, beauty and delivery in three performances of classical dance. The program starts with the “Paquita Suite”, a dance choreographed by Joseph Mazilier and music by Edouard Delvedez, which premiered in 1846 in Paris.
The National Ballet, an organization affiliated to the Department of National Arts of the INAC, had its first official presentation in the auditorium of the old Javier College on 22 August 1972. Thanks to the initiative of a group of Panamanian important professional dancers as Teresa Mann, Julio Arauz, Ileana de Sola, Otilia Tejeira, Josefina Nicoletti, ginela Vásquez, Sonia Ferguson, Everardo Garcia de Paredes and Natasha Sucre.
Followed by a revival of “Walpurgis Night” first performed by the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow in 1941, with original choreography by Leonid Lavrosky and music of Charles Gounod.
The final act is an excerpt from “The Awakening of Flora”. Choreography by Marius Petipa and music by Ricardo Drigoque, which represents Flora, the goddess of spring, who is asleep and Diana, goddess of the Moon, keeper of the peace in her sleep.
