The oceans are a vital part of human life and the planet, that is why, for the eleventh consecutive year, organizations and environmental, scientific, governmental, educational and private institutions have come together to celebrate the Month of the Oceans, and raise awareness about the importance of conserving one of the most important natural resources for life.

Up to a million birds and 100,000 marine mammals die every year from eating or being trapped in plastic waste.

Different activities are scheduled throughout September including recreational, cultural, educational and sports activities including cleaning of beaches, children’s painting competition, forums, family days and more

With the slogan,” Panama: Oceans need you!,” the organizing committee calls on people of all ages to become involved in the protection of this important ecosystem that constitutes the lungs of the planet.

Panama is a paradise with priceless natural resources and two oceans with an enviable marine biodiversity. However, the pollution which it has suffered with the passing of the years has negatively impacted ecosystems and worsened quality of life for Panamanians. This initiative seeks to raise awareness about the sea importance of the seas.
