The legend of boxing champion, Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran, will endure thanks to a biography, a movie and now also a musical which will be shown until Saturday, October 10 at the Balboa Theater and again from Tuesday, November 10, to Saturday, December 6, at Teatro en Circulo.
“Manos de Piedra, a musical KO”, is a project without precedent in Panama’s theater, a production directed by Juan Carlos Adames, whose plot is sustained by the stories and experiences of the five times world boxing champion in a musical where the protagonist, Robin Durán, is the son of the acclaimed boxer.
More than 45 actors, musicians, dancers, technical personnel and creative talent will participate in this musical adaptation of Duran’s life, which includes the performance of three songs written by the well-known composer, Omar Alfanno.
The musical conveys to the audience the champion’s life message-to be true to yourself, your beliefs and what you love, but above all to be part of the life and emotions of the people who have always believed in you.
Yescenia Navarro and Johana Chamorro, of “Topline”, are the musical producers. They describe the play as the tale of a child from El Chorrillo who became the biggest Panamanian sporting legend of all times, presenting his story as the son of Mrs Clara, Felicidad’s husband, exemplary father, “Plomo’s pupil and the champion in the hearts of all Panamanians, through his struggles in and out of the ring.
