The XIII International Encounter of Economists will take place from Monday 23 to Wednesday,November 25 at the Vasco Nuñez de Balboa Convention Center of the El Panama Hotel. The encounter will analyze topics related to globalization and development problems.
The event is organized by the Asociación Nacional de Economistas y Contadores de Cuba y la Asociación de Economistas de América Latina y el Caribe. This is the biggest event for economists in the world.
The aim of the event is to study the current global economy, as well forecast trends and alternative solutions for new problems and the present theoretical approaches.
This year the speakers will discuss subjects such as the global economic crisis; the international monetary and financial system; international commerce; growth, integration and development; the effect of poverty and inequality; environment and energy to name a few.
The event will have personalities such as Dulcidio de la Guardia, Panama Economy and Finance Minister; Dr. Gustavo Villa, General Secretary of the Panama Bank Superintendency; Katherine González Arrocha, Director for the Americas, Arbitration and ADR of the International Arbitration Court of the International Criminal Court in Panama; Dr. Mario Bergara, President of the Uruguay Central Bank and Dr. Jorge Mattar, Director of the Social and Economic Latin American Institute of the Caribbean (ILPES).
It is expected that more than 1,000 economists from the 21 country members of the Latin American and the Caribbean Economists Association, as well as special guests from more than 34 countries from the five continents will be present at the event.
