It is not a secret that Panamanian cocoa is highly sought-after for its singular flavor but Yoshiris Peña, proprietor and founder of “Oro Moreno” wants to take this ingredient to a higher level yet. “Oro Moreno” is a family company that makes homemade bonbons with 60 to 90 percent Panamanian cocoa, as well as chocolate bars and cocoa snacks filled with typical Panamanian ingredients such as coriander, passion fruit, Ron Abuelo, hot pepper, coffee, coconut and honey. The chocolate and fillings do not have additives or preservatives.
For the last three years, Yoshiris Peña, has pushed her small enterprise, by not only manufacturing bonbons but also by promoting in-depth research about cocoa, the majority of which is exported to countries in Europe.
Since August this year, the company has been working together with ForestFinance, which has a 150 hectare cocoa farm in Bocas del Toro. It’s produce is manually processed by Oro Moreno in Panama City.
From Bocas del Toro, Peña receives pre-selected cocoa beans which are later processed and transformed into delicious chocolate confectionaries..
The Oro Moreno chocolates come in boxes of three, four, five and twelve bonbons, that can be bought directly from their factory located on Via España, Edificio Domino, Piso 1, Local 4 next to the former Alhambra Cinema. Oro Moreno, also offers special presentations boxes for Christmas which will delight the lucky recipient.
