Tucan Golf Club has become one of the favorite golf destinations in Central America, because of its warm climate, courses designed by famous architects and its air connectivity. It is a place where the sports aficionados can practice their swing in beautiful surroundings. The Tucan Golf Club, on the Pacific entrance of the Canal, offers golfers the chance to play beside a rainforest with panoramic views of the interoceanic waterway and the skyline of the capital city.
Tucan’s course has 18 holes and a par-72 layout that stretches 6,618 yards. Designed by Jeffrey Myers, it soon will be remodeled by a well known architect to make it even more appealing for professionals and amateurs alike, but more important, it is located at only 15 minutes from Panama City.
The golf course is open all year round from 6:00 a.m. to dusk. Membership of the golf club costs $250.00 a month for one player and $350 per month for a family. However, the green can be used by non-members who can book tee-time by calling 211-7777 or visiting Tucan’s website www.tucancountryclub.com. The green fees on weekdays are $92 and on weekends $115.
There is a golf academy to help golfers perfect their games, with a team of local and international professionals certified by institutions of global prestige (Argentina PGA, PGA Venezuela, United Golf Teachers Federation). The golf course is appropriate for game teaching due to its topology designed for all golfers (from infants and amateurs to professionals).
The academy offers single lessons for adults and children, general clinics, special golf lessons packages for colleges and executives and events organization among its services. The students get practice balls and golf bags with full sets of clubs. An hour’s lesson costs $60. There is also a package of five lessons for $240.
The Pro-Shop sells equipment and clothes for those golfers who want to look stylish on the green and it is associated with the prestigious Golfers Inc. Proshop, famous for the quality of the products it sells. The well-informed team of salesmen can help choose the appropriate club to improve your game even more.
Tucan Golf Club is frequently used as a venue for tournaments and on Saturday, April 9, the Tucan Open will be played, attracting the best golfers of the country, in what will be a very exciting competition.
The golf club is part of Tucan Country Club & Resort, which is a 180 acre (74 hectares) private gated community. It has apartment buildings as well as three and four bedroom villas. It has a restaurant and Spa and Beauty Salon for men and women.
