Panama Recycling Week. International Recycling Day is on Tuesday, May 17th and to celebrate this event, from Monday 16 to Sunday, May 22, for the second consecutive year, Recycling Week will take place. The activities begin on Monday, May 16, with the opening of the Recycling Week, where students and volunteers will paint a mural on the coastal strip from 9 a.m. On Tuesday, May 17 from 8 a.m. the parade “Reciclando Cuidamos el Planeta” will be held at Plaza Loteria, where several schools, institutions and companies that promote recycling will take part along with students wearing dresses made from recycled materials.
There will also be two fairs. The first, “Tu Reciclaje Tiene Valor”, will take place on Thursday, May 19 in Calidonia from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Previously cleaned, dried and classified recyclable materials will be exchanged for supermarket food certificates.
On Friday, May 20 there will be a “Tree Festival”, where 50 children of the “Little Stars” Early Stimulation Center by UDELAS, will sing “Happy Birthday” to a symbolic tree in the gardens of the Ministry of Environment in Albrook from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Also, flowerpots hand-made from recycled packaging and fruit and timber seedlings will be exchanged for clean, dry and classified recyclable materials.
To end a week of activities, on Sunday, May 22, the whole family can enjoy the “Recycling for the Environment”, where participants, in addition to cycling, will have the opportunity to learn more about the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) and the color code of recycling. This bike path will take place on the coastal strip from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
