Eating out on Father’s Day. This Sunday, June 19, Father’s Day is celebrated in Panama as in countries all over the world. In many households a special lunch will be prepared for the man of the house, but for those who do not want to cook there is an alternative in a number of hotels which have prepared buffets that include entertainment.

Eating out on Father’s Day: local hotels offer great choices.

Le Meridien Hotel, located on Balboa Avenue, is serving a buffet from midday to 3:00 p.m. for $40 per person plus taxes, with mimosa, open beer bar (Heineken, Panama Light, Panama) and open wine. Royal Card members receive 20% discount. For reservations call 297-3200.

The Continental Hotel and Casino, located on Via España is offering a buffet from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m for $39.95 per person plus taxes, pensioners $29.95 plus taxes, children up to age of 12, $19.95 and children under 5 free of cost. The price includes a glass of champagne, live music with the Genesis Orchestra, a comedy show with “El Chiquitin de Mama”, games for the kids and surprises for dads. Courtesy parking for four hours. The Wyndham Panama Albrook Mall Panama City is celebrating Father’s Day in style with a brunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. which includes a bucket of beer per table and open soda bar, live music, Carioca show and prizes, children’s zone with bouncing castle, popcorn, Wii and playstation. Price per person $32.95 plus taxes. Children from 8-11 years old pay half price and below that age free of cost. For reservations call 307-0245.

The Miramar Intercontinental Hotel also has a brunch which includes seafood, pasta and dessert stations, open sparkling wine, mimosas, and house wine, national beers, juices and sodas for $45 per person plus taxes from midday to 3:00 p.m. For reservations call 214-1000.

The Bazaar Restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis has prepared a great menu specially for all the dads, with a brunch capable of satisfying the biggest appetites. Cost $34 per person plus taxes. For reservations call 380-1111

The Crowne Hotel is offering a different option for Father’s Day – a Chinese breakfast from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. which includes sweet and sour chicken, Szechuan style beef, spring rolls, chow mein and much more for $22 plus taxes. Also included are: open sangria and prizes for dads. Children between the ages of 6 and 11 pay half price. For information call 206-5500

Los Mandarinos, Boutique Hotel & Spa in El Valle de Antón, Coclé province, is also offering a special package which includes late check-out until 4:00 p.m. and a special menu on Sunday, with a mountain style barbecue and an assortment of meats and sausages, salad bar, garlic yucca, rice with pigeon peas, dessert and a drink per person.
