The Magical Islands of Chiriqui
The Magical Islands of Chiriqui. At Only one hour from the city of David, in Chiriqui province lies the Port of Boca Chica, in the San Lorenzo district. From there it is possible to hire boats to visit some of the most spectacular islands in the Gulf of Chiriqui. One of those islands is Boca Brava, which is very popular with foreign tourists, especially Europeans, because it has the most amenities (hotels, cabins, and resorts) for those who want to enjoy a few days at the beach, with sun, rain forest and tropical fauna.
Boca Brava is located only few minutes by boat from the Port of Boca Chica It encompasses 30 square kilometers and has a number of fine beaches, among them those named Piedritas, Cristina and Las Cocas.
The Gulf of Chiriquí Marine Park is located in the middle of the Gulf of Chiriquí. It was established in 1994 to protect 150 square kilometers (58 sq. mi) of marine ecosystems, including coral reef, mangrove swamp and marine meadow, and around two dozen islands of the archipelago of Las Isla Parida. In total, the park has 25 islands and 19 coral reefs.
Other nearby islands, equally as beautiful are Linarte, Saíno, Bolaños, San José, Gámez, Secas and Palenque. All of them can be reached by hiring one of the 20 craft that offer private or collective service from the Port of Boca Chica.
