Chinese-Panamanian art at the MAC. An exhibition of contemporary Panamanian-Chinese Art, “Pana China”, will be on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art located on Calle San Blas, in Ancón from Wednesday, August 3 until Sunday, October 2.
Panama is considered a melting pot of many races. Contemporary Panamanians are the result of a mixing and exchange of multiple cultures, and the Chinese culture is one that has contributed much since the era of the construction of the canal.
This exhibition is a personal and contemporary look by a second-generation group of artists, the product of different elements of Panama and China. The project began as an experiment among family and friends in 2014, and with the help of the MAC it has become a point of dialogue, satisfying the need to investigate, reflect and recover cultural links.
This is a joint exhibition by “Chinese-Panamanian” artists Cisco Merel Choy, Rosendo Merel Choy, Samuel Rumaldo Choy, Ian Y. Chang, Manuel Choy Loo and Laura Fong Posper.
The exhibition is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $3. For more information call 262-2280 or contact Dahiana Ospina to Redes@MacPanama.org
