Habana Sax plays Panama. Habana Sax, the Cuban saxophone group, will perform in Panama on Tuesday, August 9 as part of the concerts tour of “World Music Panama”. This is the sixth concert of the 2016 season which will be held at the Ateneo Theater of the City of Knowledge, at 8 p.m.

The “HABANA-SAX” group had its origins in the Chamber Music class at the Institute of Superior Art in Cuba (I.S.A. for its acronym in Spanish). The members are virtuoso performers of cha-cha-cha, mambo, rumba, danzón, son, bolero, conga, as well as jazz and the purest Latin jazz.

The quintet has developed a wide repertoire specifically marked by Latin Jazz, Caribbean music and Cuban Popular Music, with such well-known pieces as “Son de la Loma”, “El Manisero”, “El Negrito del Batey” and their most famous composition, “Son La Guantanamera”. Their music combines Afro-Cuban chants, percussion, popular Cuban songs and dances.

Habana Sax has developed a successful career abroad with numerous international tours in several European countries and multiple presentations on radio and TV.
