There is good news for movie fans in Panama West province, which stretches from Arraijan to San Carlos. The new Market Plaza Mall in Chorrera, whose first phase will be inaugurated in December 2016, will include a group of movie theaters. The shopping center is located in Costa Verde Boulevard, on one side of the Arraijan-La Chorrera highway, at just one hour from Coronado and the Pacific beaches area.
The construction company, Edifyca, which is building the shopping center, announced that it has signed an agreement with the international cinema company, Caribbean Cinemas. The two groups will get together from the design phase and blueprint a creation for the second stage of the Market Plaza Costa Verde project.
This is a project of approximately 40,000 square meters, which comprises important stores such as the Riba Smith Supermarket, Novey, Ashley Furniture Homestore, Power Club, Farmacias Revilla, the Vitamin Shoppe, Ilumitec, Casa de Las Baterías, KFC, Pizza Hut, Nación Sushi etc.
Gregory Quinn, Caribbean Cinemas managing partner, said that he was very enthusiastic about the opening of their second operation in Panama, with the support of the Edifyca group. Talking about the details of the cinema he pointed out: “Our new cinemas in Costa Verde will be modern, with stadium type seating, digital projection and high tech sound.”
The cinema chain will also be inaugurating new screening rooms in Santiago Mall, Santiago City, Veraguas province
Caribbean Cinemas is the biggest cinema chain in the Caribbean. Currently it has 57 theaters with more than 470 screens. It has presence in the following countries: Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. Croix and Guyana. During 2016 it will expand its operations to two new markets; Panama and Guadeloupe.
