Spanish hotel chain comes to Panama

Sercotel Hotels, the Spanish hotel chain has acquired a new property, this time in the heart of Panama City’s banking center. Formerly the Four Point Sheraton in Marbella, it will now be the four-star Sercotel Panama Princess. This is the fourth country in Latin America and the seventh worldwide in which they operate.

The chain has 176 hotels, distributed in Spain, Andorra, Portugal, Italy, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador and Panama, with more than 17,500 rooms. In the last six months, Sercotel Hotels has developed an internationalization strategy which will incorporate new hotels using exploitation (rental) /management or commercialization models.

“Our objective is to increase our presence in different international destinations, in Europe or Latin America. During 2016, we augmented our presence in Cuba, Ecuador and Panama. Colombia has 20 establishments and we have incorporated our first two hotels in Italy, specifically in Milan and Turin,” said Javier Garro, general director and CEO of Sercotel Hotels.

This new four-star hotel is incorporated to Sercotel Hotel using the management model, which means that the chain will operate it and the establishment will adopt its name.

The Sercotel Panama Princess is the perfect location for business travelers. It is close to the city’s historical quarter with the Interoceanic Canal Museum, the National Theater and historical monuments and also to national parks and the Panama Canal.

It has 128 rooms and the “Kushka” restaurant. The hotel has its own spa with massage rooms, sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, beauty parlor, swimming pool gym and paddle court. The hotel has five events roams, ideal for meetings, forums and congresses, all equipped with projectors, screens, photocopy machines and DVD players.

Sercotel Hotels was founded in Barcelona in 1994. In the beginning the main function of the company was to cover the commercial needs of independent hotels who could not compete with the great hotel chains. In 2008 its business plan was modified and the idea rental hotels and direct management was introduced, as well as a series of services such as revenue management, marketing and image consulting.
