USA in Panama Book Fair. From Tuesday, 16 to Sunday, August 21 the Atlapa Convention Center, located in San Francisco, will host the twelfth edition of the International Book Fair in Panama, an intercultural event organized by the Panamanian Book Chamber.

This year’s fair will have the presence of 43 international authors from 16 different countries and 26 Panamanians and foreign writers living in Panama. The delegations of Cuba, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Jamaica, Morocco, Nicaragua, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and the guest of honor, the United States, will be present during the event.

Among the international figures who will attend the fair are the renowned Mexican writer, Carlos Cuauhtémoc, the video-blogger “Yuya” and CNN news host of Cuban origin, Ismael Cala.

The cultural program of the fair is designed to enable the public to attend the roundtables, conferences and book presentations offered by poets, novelists, short story writers, essayists, youtubers and journalists. In addition, other cultural exchange activities such as theater presentations, scientific exhibitions, literary events, music and film exhibitions will be available.

An attendance of more than 120 thousand people is expected, including locals and visitors who live in Panama. The Child and Youth Pavilion, the most visited in previous years, promises to delight attendees with a themed decoration based around the characters and scenarios created by the U.S. cartoonist and children’s writer, Theodor Seuss, better known as Dr. Seuss.

The event will be held in the La Huaca Theater and the Bejuco-Chocoe, Trenzado-Lagunilla. Chaquira, Boquete, La Cesta and Portobello halls of the Atlapa Convention Center, open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. the six days of the fair.

Tickets cost per day, in pre-sale, $3.50 for adults, $1 for children and students and $2 for seniors, the day of the event they will be available at the box office at a cost of $4 for adults, $1.50 for children and $2 for seniors. There are also packages available for groups and for all days of the event.
