Broadway Phantom Hits Panama: the beloved musical is the country’s biggest production so far.

On Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday, September 25, musical lovers in Panama, will be able to enjoy one of the oldest and most famous Broadway musicals, The “Phantom of the Opera”. This event will take place at the Anayansi Theater in the Atlapa Convention Center.

The Phantom of the Opera is based on the French novel “Le Fantôme de l’Opéra” by Gaston Leroux. The story develops around Christine Daae, a beautiful Paris Opera soprano who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, disfigured composer. It was first introduced in 1986 in the West End of London and two years later was staged on Broadway.

This emblematic musical has only been presented in Spanish in Spain, Mexico and Argentina. Panama will become the first country in Central America that has been granted the rights to produce and present this work. This show is one of the most ambitious in the history of Panamanian theater, incorporating thousands of light changes, more than 300 costumes and 12 different sets.

Direction and staging of “Phantom of the Opera” is in charge of director, Aaron Zebede, leading the largest theater cast ever presented in a musical in Panama. Music is by musical director Dino Nugent, who leads an orchestra of the 28 of the best musicians in the country.

The first performance will take place on Friday 23 and Saturday, September 24 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, September 25 there will be two functions at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $120 and are on sale in
