The Best Hospitals in Panama. Before relocating to a new country foreigners consider medical care to be an important factor. Many medical doctors in Panama were trained in the U.S. and speak English. Panama has quality hospitals at much lower costs than in the U.S. or Europe. Panama City boasts four modern, large hospitals affiliated with respected U.S. hospitals.
Clínica Hospital San Fernando: Opened in 1949, its three buildings host over 600 medical professionals. It has affiliation with three U.S. hospitals: Baptist Health International of Miami, Miami Children’s Hospital, and Tulane University Health Services Center. The hospital includes a presidential suite, 11 suites, and 51 private rooms. They provide the best cardiovascular care in Panama. Most of their doctors and nurses are bilingual.
Centro Médico Paitilla: Founded in 1975, offers over 50 medical specializations. In 2001, they opened their Oncology Unit, considered to be the best in Panama. It affiliated with the Cleveland, Ohio Clinic in 2001
Hospital Nacional: Opened in 1973, this hospital is renowned for its Maternity Ward, including gynecology/obstetrics services. They use state of the art Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System for less invasive surgery procedures. It is affiliated with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Kendall Medical Center in Florida.
Many international insurance programs are accepted by these hospitals including: AETNA, AFSPA (American Foreign Service), ALLIANZ, BUPA, CIGNA, and EUROCROSS. In addition, local Panama private health insurance companies offer lower premiums with sliding-scale plans, covering up to 100% of surgery, hospitalization, medicines, and therapy. Hospital San Fernando even has its own hospitalization plan.
