Historic Central Hotel Panama Reopens. The Central Hotel Panama, has become one of the new hotel offers in Panama City, located in the heart of the Old Town, was inaugurated in 1874, in front of the beautiful Plaza de la Independencia, to become the first hotel operating in the country.

For many years, it was the favorite place of intrepid travelers, housing well-known figures such as Count Ferdinand de Lesseps, French diplomat and businessman, responsible for the failed French attempt to build the Panama Canal.

The new Central Hotel opened its doors once again last October 19, 2016, to give its guests a high level experience in terms of rest, comfort and gastronomy. This jewel of history and architecture, is in a building declared World Heritage by UNESCO, that is the reason it underwent a thorough interior renovation, conserving in totality the original facade built in 1874.

Inside, the rooms now offer the usual luxury and comfort of the old Central Hotel, but with modern elements and entirely renovated finishings. It has 135 rooms that perfectly combine the historical elegance with the comfort and the contemporary style for which it was famous in the past. This unforgettable place offers rooms with views of Plaza de la Independencia, the Cathedral Church and the popular streets of Casco Viejo.
