Amador Causeway Celebrates Revamping. The Amador Causeway will officially reopen on Saturday, April 8 with a celebration that will last until Sunday, April 9. The festivities will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. both days, and is free.
There will be all sorts of entertainment like rides and bouncy castle for the children, live music and national artistes who will sing and dance. During a fireworks display will delight the public.
The Causeway went to a refurbishment process that cost $66.5 million and including the widening of the road from two lanes to four form the roundabout of the “Paseo de la Bandera” until the entrance of Flamenco Island, construction sidewalks, street lights, bicycle way, parking lot and parks.
The Amador Causeway is a narrow land-bridge, built with rocks excavated during the construction of the Panama Canal, that connects the continent with three islands next to the Pacific Ocean entrance to the Panama Canal.
It is a popular place with tourists and residents, who go there to do exercise, eat in one of the many restaurants, go to a concert, visit the Biomuseum and the Punta Culebra Nature Center or even take a ferry to Taboga Island. It is expected that the facelift will make this area more attractive.
