Game of chefs at Restaurant Week

The most delicious time of the year is here. Restaurant Week 2017 will take place from Friday 15 to Saturday, September 30. For 15 days the participating restaurants will offer a three course special menu that includes: starter, main dish and a dessert plus a drink to choose from a Canada Dry Ginger Ale or a Balboa beer at a fix price of up to $30.00 for lunch and dinner.

Restaurant Week, now in its 11th year, for the first time will offer within the special menu, dishes which highlight the flavors of the Isthmus with seasonal local produce. Pica Productions, are the organizers of the event explained that the idea is to support local farmers and create awareness of consuming national products with this and all its events.

Also, diners this year will be able to select their favorite restaurant by voting in its web page Week.Com.Pa or Restaurant.Week.Com.Pa and select Restaurant week winning chef, who will receive a Copa Airlines round trip ticket to a direct destination and a Proserv voucher worth $500.

Additional benefits which La Prensa and Tourism Authority subscribers will have is a card given to them when they first enter the country which will give them a discount of 15% on the special menu fix price of Restaurant Week

The participating restaurants are: 54 East de Global Hotel, Aurum of Las Americas Golden Tower Hotel, Azahar, Barcelona of Trump Hotel, Botánica, Brio Brasserie of Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Camila´s, Casa Escondida, Corvina y Caña of the Marriott Hotel, El Social, Grapes, Il Grillo, Jerónimo, La Séptima Central, Lazotea, Malasaña, Prime of Sortis Hotel, Mano de Tigre, Mercao, Muh, Nina´s Café & Bistro, Salsipuedes of the Bristol Hotel, Segundo Muelle in San Francisco, Society Café of the Hilton Hotel, Tejas of Trump Hotel, Tío Navaja, Unagi Fusión and El Social.

Restaurant Week was held for the first time in 1992 as a promotional event for lunches in some of the restaurants in New York City. Today, different versions of the event are held in several cities around the world, including London, England; Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Acapulco, Mexico; Miami and Washington, United States and Panama City.
