The second version of the Panama Horror Fest will take place at Fundacion Omar Torrijos, in Balboa, from Wednesday 20 to Saturday, September 23 with a series of forums; screening of movies, documentaries and shorts where the main subject is horror. The closing party will be on Sunday, September 24, with screening of films at Mercadito, followed by a party at Piña Calavera in Casco Antiguo.
This year the festival dedicates its poster to the ghost legends and characters of Panamanian traditions, represented by the image of the legend of the “Woman in pollera”, which was uncovered by the Panamanian author and folklorist Dora Perez de Zarate in her book “The Panamanian Saga, a disturbing subject” (“La Saga Panameña, un tema inquietante”).
This year in addition to the shorts competition, documentaries, film and a video minute, there will be two new categories: Narratives and Illustrations, whose main purpose is to rescue the Panamanian legends and ghost stories. It is sponsored by the Panama National Institute of Culture (INAC).
Also in collaboration with the Experimental Cinema Group (Grupo Experimental de Cine Universitario (GECU)) and the Image and Sound Center (Centro de Imagen y Sonido (CIMAS) there will be a retrospective of horror films made in Panama on Monday 4 and Tuesday, September 5.
